WHAT THEY ARE:
Two color-coordinated eye shadows—one cream, one glitter—in a spillproof wand. They make experimenting with colorful and glittery eye-makeup looks a cinch, since the shades all go on sheer and come with brushes that are superprecise.
HOW THEY LOOK/FEEL:
One coat of the cream or glitter creates a pretty wash of color, while two gives you bold sparkle. We love that these shades are refined: The flecks of glitter are small, and the cream has a smooth metallic finish that only becomes opaque at three coats.
WHY WE LIKE THEM:
We want our colorful makeup to be fun to wear, a no-brainer to apply, and above all, flattering. These shadows nail all those and one of our favorite winter trends: Makeup artists have been sprinkling glitter on top of eye shadow and mascara like it's pixie dust lately. Consider the faded blues in Cobalt Crystal: If you draw a graphic cat eye with the gray-blue cream and top it with the blackened-blue glitter, you get an easy, chic look (a trick we learned from a makeup artist at the Paris shows). The rose-gold shades in Peach Prism are particularly sexy on olive skin; use the cream as bold liner, the glitter as a highlight for the inner corners, and add lots of black mascara. And then there's Gold Glitz: We like pressing a hint of black glitter over the tips of mascara'd lashes—or painting it along their roots like liquid liner—for a rock-and-roll effect. The flecks haven't fallen in our contacts yet, which is its own bit of magic.
